Let the adventures begin!
From Memorial Day to Halloween, this summer-long adventure will take you, your friends, and family to new, exciting places across Cherokee County. This adventure is free and anyone can participate! Visit a library in Aurelia, Cherokee, Marcus, or Quimby to register for the event and receive your map, guidebook, and crayons.
Visit the sites in the guidebook in any order, looking for a white 3"x3" tile at each site. There is a clue inside the guidebook to help you find it at each site. The symbol on the tile should match the image on the site's rubbing page in the guidebook. Make a rubbing by placing the page over the tile and rubbing the page with a crayon. (Tiles are accessible after hours.) Once you have visited 11 of the 14 sites and obtained tile rubbings, take the guidebook back to your library for a prize! Take our survey after you've completed the treasure hunt and be entered into a drawing to win a prize!
14 different environmentally, culturally, or historically significant sites will be chosen next year! You can make a suggestion for 2017 on our Contact Us page or in the comments box in our Survey.

Be prepared!
- Remember to wear sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and bring plenty of water and snacks. You may want to have bug repellant, too.
- Keep your guidebook and map in your car or bag all the time so you're always ready for whatever adventure might come your way.
- Check each site's guidebook page before you head out for recommendations on extra gear or clothing you may want to bring.
- Be good stewards! Make sure you're being kind to the land, animals, plants, and fellow humans you encounter on your adventures. Leave the site as you found it, unless you're picking up trash.
- Be aware of each site’s tile difficulty rating. More stars means it’s harder to find and may require a little hike.
- Bring a camera! Share your adventures with us by e-mailing [email protected].
